In his address Vincenzo Carrieri, CEO of epimedical, who is the initiator of the idea of the Swiss Thai Innovation Medical Academy (STIMA), noted that it became clear to him over the years that we not only have to work on technological progress in terms of material and standardized processes but also with the focus on the interface of science and technology. In an example he gave: A doctor can only achieve the best possible result if he has the necessary knowledge of the material used in implants and their compatibility. According to the Memorandum, as an incubator and coordinating body the Swiss Thai Innovation Medical Academy (STIMA) is to ensure collaboration between institutions in Switzerland and Thailand by launching and promoting relationships with leading research centers and universities in both countries with the Chulalongkorn University and the Swiss universities of applied sciences meant to put this plan into practice.

As an incubator the Swiss Thai Innovation Medical Academy (STIMA) promotes the development of innovative solutions through collaboration and intensive knowledge transfer between the innovation leader Switzerland and the Kingdom of Thailand. In this, projects are to be identified that have the potential to accelerate healing processes. These innovations will not only increase the competitiveness of Thailand but further contribute among other things to the success of the Thailand government’s development program “Thailand 4.0”. Further the Swiss Thai Innovation Medical Academy (STIMA) is expected to ensure exchange of information and experiences not only with organizations that are within the Swiss Thai Innovation Medical Academy (STIMA) network but also with other relevant organizations throughout the world. With all these and other basic aims being put into practice The Swiss Thai Innovation Medical Academy (STIMA) is thus another perfect example of how science can build cultural bridges.
